PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

Abstract submissions are now closed

Presentation Guidelines:

If you have any questions please email tracy@on-cue.co.nz or phone 03 928 0620

PRESENTATION TYPE

Oral:

If your abstract is accepted as an oral presentation you will have 15 minutes to present followed by 3-4 minutes for discussion and questions.

AV tips for oral presentations:

  • each room is equipped with a laptop, data projector, pointer, and lectern microphone.

  • please ensure any video or audio files embedded in your presentation are also brought with you as separate files

  • both Mac and PC formats will be fine

  • screens are 16:10 ratio

  • please bring a backup copy of your presentation with you in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.

Poster:

If your abstract is accepted as a poster, you will be required to print a poster.  Posters should be no larger than portrait layout A0 (841mm width x 1189mm height).  The poster display boards are Velcro compatible and Velcro fixers will be provided to all poster presenters at the conference.

Special Session:

The special session is open to any topic but should be related to the conference theme.

The only limitation is time – the time limit for each presentation is a very strict 6 minutes

There are no rules, but due to the time limit, graphs, tables or equations should be kept to a minimum.

Be creative, here are some suggestions to get you started. Your presentation could include:

  • no slides or videos

  • pictures only

  • music, dance, song, or any form of communication

  • poetry (e.g., a haiku on water, a ballad on climate change, a rap version of the Navier-Stokes equations, classical poetry on Darcy’s equation, or a country song on hydrology)

As the special session presentations are only maximum of 6 minutes – no Q and A – the abstract only needs to contain the Title of the presentation, the Authors names and affiliations and a max. 150 word abstract.

Notification of Acceptance:
Notifications of acceptance will be sent via e-mail to the submitting author by the 27th of September 2019.

Conditions of Submission:

  • Late submissions will not be accepted.

  • A condition of acceptance is that at least one author presents at the conference.

  • The presenting author will be required to register for the Conference to ensure their abstract(s) is included in the final programme. Deadline for presenting author registration is 18 October 2019. Similarly, no speaker fee is paid to authors or presenters.

  • It is the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure the accuracy of the content, spelling, grammar and formatting of the abstract, as it will be published as it is submitted.

  • By submitting an abstract, you also grant the Committee permission to publish the abstract and presentation in the Conference proceedings in hard copy and/or electronic format.

Abstract Instructions:

  1. Download the Abstract Template document and insert/add your abstract text. Save as a .doc or .docx document to your computer.

  2. Abstracts must not exceed 2 pages (including figures and tables).

  3. All abstracts were to be submitted via the submission portal by 23 August.

Abstract Template
Authors must prepare their abstract in advance using the template. Authors can then upload the completed abstract via the online submission portal. The submission portal will generate a PDF of your abstract which includes the details entered into the system and the body of the uploaded abstract template document. If guidelines are not followed, your abstract may be declined.
